Julie Neilson Media operates www.julieneilsonmedia.co.uk. This Privacy Policy informs you of policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information received by Julie Neilson Media. 

 

I, Julie Neilson, understand that I have a responsibility to protect and respect your privacy and to look after your personal data.

 

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data I collect, how I use your personal data, reasons I may need to disclose your personal date to others and how I store your personal data securely.

 

For clarity, under certain circumstances, I may be both data controller and data processor for your personal data.

Who am I?

 

I am a video producer and coach and aim to help small business owners and charity workers harness the power of video for their business.

How the law protects you

 

Data protection laws state that I should only process personal data if I have valid reasons to do so. The reasons I process your personal data include, but are not limited to, your consent, performance of a contract, billing and the exchange of information.

How do I collect personal data from you?

 

I receive information about you from you when you invest in my services ie subscribe to an online course or purchase a coaching package, complete forms on my website or in person, contact me by phone, email or otherwise. I also collect information from you when you sign up for my newsletter or visit my website.

What type of data do I collect from you?

 

The personal data that I collect from you may include which online course or coaching package you have invested in, your name, address, email address, phone numbers, business name, type of business you run, payment information, how you heard about Julie Neilson Media and IP addresses. I keep notes in accordance with the law. I may also retain records of your queries and correspondence, in the event you contact me.

How do I use your data?

 

I might use information about you in the following ways:

·         To provide customer care, including responding to your requests if you contact me with a query;

Where I store your personal data

 

I follow legal standards to keep digital data password protected and secure. Printed and hand written data and notes are locked securely in accordance with the law.

As the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure, I cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to my site or email account and any transmission is at your own risk. Once I have received your information, I will use strict procedures and security features to prevent unauthorised access to the very best of my ability but, I do not have the ability to control the security of other organisations.  I will only employ organisations where I am assured that their services have very tight security infrastructure and will not pass on your details to any third party organisations. 

 

Where I have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of my website and/or online programmes, you are responsible for keeping the password confidential. I ask you not to share this password with anyone.

Who has access to your personal data?

 

I do not and never will sell your personal data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

I do use third parties for the purposes of sending/receiving emails, processing payments and improving my website.  

In sending you newsletters and course emails, the third party involved uses tracking facilities within the actual email. Subscriber activity is tracked and stored in a database for future analysis and evaluation. Such tracked activity may include; the opening of emails, forwarding of emails, the clicking of links within the email content, times, dates and frequency of activity [this is by no means a comprehensive list].

You are able to unsubscribe at any time.

 

For taking payments for online courses and coaching packages, the third party I use is a market leader in their field and I am confident that they have taken the necessary steps to keep your data safe. 

Your payment details, including your email address and country of residence, will be made available to me by this third party.

To send and receive individual emails, I will use one of the market leaders where I am ensured that they will comply with data protection legislation.  

www.julieneilsonmedia.co.uk is hosted on the Wix.com platform. Wix.com provides the online platform that allows me to sell my products and services to you. Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall. All direct payment gateways offered by Wix.com and used by our company adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.

I use Google Analytics (see Cookies) to improve my website in order to give you an improved visitor's experience.

Retention periods

 

I shall retain your data whilst we work together and thereafter only for as long as necessary in accordance with applicable laws.

 

I may keep your data for up to 7 years after our work together. I may not be able to delete your data before this time due to legal and/or accountancy obligations.

 

I may also keep your data for research or statistical purposes.

 

I assure you that your personal data will only be used for these purposes.

Liability

I agree to take reasonable measures to protect your data in accordance with applicable laws.

 

Data Breaches

In the event of a data breach, I shall ensure that my obligations under applicable data protection laws are complied with where necessary.

Your rights

Please Note: preventing the use or processing of your personal data, may delay or prevent me from fulfilling my contractual obligations to you. It may also mean that I am unable to provide my services.

 

You have the right to object to my use of your personal data, or ask me to delete, remove or stop using it if there is no need for me to keep it. This is known as your right to be forgotten. There are legal and accountancy reasons why I will need to keep your data, but please do inform me if you think I am retaining or using your personal data incorrectly.

My Privacy Policy will be made clear to you at the point of collection of your personal data.

You can unsubscribe from my mailing lists at any time.

 

Accessing and updating your data

Please let me know if any of your information (email address etc) changes.

You have the right to access the information I hold about you.

You should allow up to a month for me to be able to process your request.
