SUMMER WEATHER and YOUR ViDEO VENTURES!

We seem to be having some lovely weather at the moment – and long may it last!

It usually lifts our mood when we see the sun shining, and I think it encourages positivity and cheerfulness.

But what does it mean for your ViDEO Ventures?

LET THERE BE LIGHT!

Well, to start with, as we move into the summer months, we have more daylight hours.

And that means more time for producing ViDEOs, especially if you’re using sunshine as your free source of light.

If you want to do any recording or live streaming outside, then warmer, sunnier weather will give you more options.

Plus, you don’t have to worry about keeping your equipment, and yourself, dry from the rain, which is also a bonus.

The downside of the sunnier weather is that as the light gets stronger, it can also get harsher, especially if it’s a day with a clear blue sky.

With no clouds to break up the sunshine, you need to be careful you don’t end up squinting into the sun if you’re doing a piece to camera. Whatever you do, don’t wear sunglasses if you’re doing a piece to camera because that eye contact is very important!

And it’s also worth being aware of and looking out for any shadows caused by the harsher light.

In fact, it’s actually often better to record or live stream when there is a bit of cloud in the sky – not big, dark, ominous clouds but enough soft, white, fluffy clouds to diffuse the light.

WE’RE ALL GOING ON A SUMMER HOLIDAY!

And, of course, summer is the time that many people choose to go on holiday!

You might find that your business is a bit quieter as your clients toddle off somewhere to chill out and relax.

And that makes it the perfect time for you to get ahead with your ViDEO Ventures, whether that’s

Strategising and Planning your Content,

Batch Recording your ViDEOs

or getting on top of your Editing and Scheduling.

And you might want to schedule your ViDEOs for when most of your Target Audience is around and not on holiday!

SCHOOL’S OUT FOR SUMMER!

Of course, if you’ve got kids, you might already be thinking about the school holidays coming up and how you’re going to keep the kids amused for all those weeks whilst you keep your business ticking over too!

Well, depending on their ages, of course, why not get them involved in your ViDEO Ventures?!

Get one of your kids to interview you! You could give them the questions or let them come up with their own – that could be very interesting!

Someone could be your Director or your Camera Operator. They might even enjoy helping you to set up your lights or tripod or even plugging in your microphone.

NOTE: Obviously, I wouldn’t recommend you let young kids near your equipment! You know your children, what age they are and what they’re capable of.

Your kids might also enjoy helping you find locations to use for your ViDEO Ventures, whether that’s around your home or when you’re out and about.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!

Hopefully, you might have a holiday too during the summer or at least get out and about a bit more.

And while I do advocate having a good break and recharging your batteries, you might also enjoy doing some ViDEOs from different locations.

When you’re strategising and planning ahead, think of any types of content that you could maybe create while you’re away from home.

And I don’t mean great, big, lengthy online courses, for example, that are going to be hugely time consuming, but I’m sure you could come up with some short and snappy pieces to camera that you could use for your social media feeds.

So think about your content and think about the types of locations that you could use.

SOUND AND VISION!

And it doesn’t have to stop with pieces to camera!

You could record visuals and sounds to use with meditations, for example.

You could show us some of the things that inspire you – buildings, countryside, whatever it is.

You could even record footage to use as different backgrounds if you use a chroma key or green screen.

And these things don’t have to take a lot of time – simply get your phone out, line up your shot and hit that record button!

So, keep your eyes open when you’re out and about because you never know what might be useful!

WANT MORE?!

I’ll be covering topics like these in more detail in my From Camera Shy to Camera Confident online course which I’m currently upgrading. Let me know if you’d like to hear when it’s ready!

In the meantime, I hope that’s given you some insights to help with your ViDEO Ventures.

Do let me know what you think. Are there any other advantages to summer weather that you’ve come across when it comes to YOUR ViDEO Ventures?

Remember, it’s never too late to start using ViDEO and

YOU really can be an

Awesome ViDEO Star!

You know where I am if you need me.

Take care, stay safe and well & bye for now!
