In my last blog, when I talked about how my new laptop could help you with your ViDEO content, I was mainly looking at your customer journey and how you could interact with your Target Audience along the way. (I had a great customer journey buying my new laptop, by the way!)

And, I mentioned quite a few ideas for ViDEO content in that blog – so if you haven’t read it, it might be worth taking a look!

So, this week, I want to expand on what I was talking about and come at it from a different angle. Obviously, there’s more to creating ViDEOs than simply knowing and understanding the various pain points of your Target Audience and producing ViDEOs around those, for example.

Sometimes, you also have to look at your own mindset around all of this too.

I know that a lot of the people I help or work with are very caring, heart centred people who, besides earning a living, also simply want to help people with what they do.

And sometimes this can create a problem as they don’t want to come across as salesy.

And, if they could, they would probably give their services away for free!

And I understand because I’ve felt that way too.


At times, the whole buying and selling aspect can feel a bit alien, don’t you think?

But, you know, it’s good to have an exchange and people feel good when they can give something in return.

People don’t want to feel like they’re receiving charity – they want to give too!

And they often appreciate things more if they have to pay for it or give something in return.

When people feel they’ve earned something, they give more value to it.

So, your Target Audience might very well WANT to pay you!

Don’t deny them that!


And your ViDEOs don’t have to be all about selling, they don’t have to be all salesy!

And YOU don’t have to be salesy!

I’m guessing, if you’re in business, you’ll have made some friends on that journey, whether they’ve bought from you, you’ve bought from them or you’ve worked on your businesses alongside each other.

Well, think of your ViDEOs as a way of getting to know people and making new friends and acquaintances.

Think of your clients and customers – and that’s previous, current and potential ones – as being, or becoming, new friends or acquaintances.

Talk to them and let them know you understand them – and their problem.

Talk to them about how you can help them.

Talk to them about how they can work with you.

Talk to them about who you are and what you do.

You don’t have to SELL to them.

Make it a conversation rather than a sales pitch.

With all the getting to KNOW, LIKE & TRUST you, that I regularly bring up – and I’m not going to apologise for that! – it’s all about building a relationship; it’s not about selling.

And that’s what you need to do WITH your ViDEOs.

That’s what you need to put INTO your ViDEOs.

Be Yourself – Don’t Be a Salesperson!


We’ve talked about how your Target Audience might feel but what about YOU?

How do you feel when you make a sale?

Do you do a little happy dance?

Making a sale can certainly create a variety of reactions – but I’m guessing most of them will be positive.

I’ve yet to hear someone say, Oh I hate that I made some money this month!

Of course, if you’ve not set your prices effectively, you might feel disappointed that you didn’t make more or reach your income target but I’m not going into that here,

I’m talking here about those individual sales – about landing that client or selling that painting…

You might simply feel grateful, relieved or happy that you’ve got some income – because we all need to live off something!

But as I said, it’s not just all about sales!


Using ViDEO can be so empowering for YOU!

When you look and sound confident in your ViDEOs – you become confident in yourself.

So many of us, regularly have to fight that gnarly imposter syndrome.

But you know your area of expertise.

You want to share that with people.

You want to help people with what you do – whether that’s holistic treatments, artwork for their home, business management, whatever it is that you do.

And you know that ViDEO, especially online, is the fastest, easiest way for people to get to KNOW, LIKE & TRUST you - and ultimately buy from you.

So, if you can learn how to look and feel confident and professional in your ViDEOs, you will create professional ViDEOs.

You will feel that sense of ACHIEVEMENT.

You will feel more CONFIDENT having done it.

You will feel EMPOWERED.

And what’s not to love about that?!


As I’ve said before, I love the ripple effect of helping people with their ViDEOs.

I help people to create ViDEOs

They can then reach a wider Target Audience.

They can be more effective in their communications.

They can then help more people with whatever it is that they do.

Those people – those clients and customers - who are being helped will presumably then benefit from better health, from better standards of living, a better level of confidence, better enjoyment of their home – whatever it is that they’re being helped with.

And that will then impact on the people around them!

It’s a win win with multiple ripples!


So, connect with ViDEO in a way that doesn’t feel salesy.

And that starts with how YOU connect with the ViDEOs you produce.

It’s also how Your ViDEOs connect with Your Target Audience.

You don’t have to be salesy and neither do your ViDEOs!!
